I really liked and agreed with President Obama's State of the Union Address. One of the things that I noticed about his speech is that since the beginning of his term the president has stayed true to his agenda for the most part. In his most recent State of the Union, President Obama brought up several good points which all lead in the direction of our country moving forward; both education and technology wise.
I definately agreed with Barack Obama when he mentioned that it was the job of both parents and teachers to lead our students, but the job starts in our homes. I was also glad to hear that we would be replacing No Child Left Behind with Race to the Top. I think that trying a different form of incentive could work better than the one that we have now.
During the State of the Union when the president started talking about our country's need for innovation I actually got excited. I feel like compared to other nations that ours is behind in the areas of technology that were mentioned in the president's speech. I don't think that the high speed trains were as important as he made them seem though. In my opinion we should be more worried about more solar powered technology. I also think that the fact that President Obama invited those innovative guests to see his speech was nice. All in all I think that the State of the Union was a good plan for us and I hope that we can stcik to it and lead America into the future on a good note.

2011 State of the Union
I agreed with most of the things President Obama said in his State of the Union address to Congress. I especially like his use of innovation as a motif and how he was able to like innovation to pretty much everything that he said. I believe that he was right to say that we need to focus on education and science because we are getting behind the rest of the world. His Race to the Top ideas were very good, and a much-needed change from No Child Left Behind. This could actually help improve education and make schools strive for the highest academic achievement, not just try to pass a test.
I thought it was very interesting, and strategic, for the president to have the people sitting in the first lady's box that he did. He chose people that he could site as examples that his new policies to create jobs were working, but he also chose people, like the science fair winner, that show how important innovation and creating new technologies is. He was able to show how his policies were working to create new jobs, but also show that more work is needed to be done in order for the United States to thrive again.

In his speech, the president got across the need for new, alternative energy sources, and how the government is trying to help with finding these. He also said that they aren't just giving out money, you have to earn it, which I think is an important point. They have to give the money to teams of people that could actually help our planet, and our economy, by creating new, clean sources of energy that are cost-efficient. I liked Obama's State of the Union address. I thought there were alot of important topics covered such as education and energy. He did a good job discussing things that he would do or has done. He talked about his new education program which I think will be much better than the current program, No Child Left Behind. I think it was important that Obama address this so that people know what he is trying to accomplish in terms of education and the new standards.
He talked alot about what he wants teh infastucture to be like. He talked alot about high speed rail and teh pending availability to all americans. I think this is a good goal, but a little far out of reach, yes.
He did a very good job setting high goals for teh nation in a time that needs them. We need to know what the president is expecting of Congress and the progress in America. Now the question is: How long will it take for Congress to jump on board? Then, how long will it take for the american people to see results?
The State of The Union 2011
Obama stepped up on that podium, and devliered the State of the Union with gusto, promising a bright future for America, and many brilliantideas for solutions to the nation's problems. I'm not going to be the one to say his speech was perfect, though. It had it's flaws.
Obama adressed higher standards of clean energy, yet was vague about the details. Sure, you can pour as much money as you want into clean energy, but actually getting that many people to depend on such energy is another story entirely. And with the deficiet rising, and the economy rather shaky, can it really be ensured that eighty percent our nation will rely on clean energy sources in the future?
That said, I believe that replacing the No Child Left Behind program was one of the smarter things his adminstration has planned to do. According to his speech, with less than 1% of what was already spent on the education budget, they were able to launch a program that came up with plenty of new ways to improve education and working conditions for students, and teachers, respectively. If such an act was easily achieved, on suich as small budget, certainly the federal government can takes steps toward either reforming, or absolishing the No Child Left Behind Act.
Finally, concerning his plans for the economy, I see the wisdom in his endavors. Switching from cars, to high speed rail, as well as lowering corporate tax rates, without adding to our deficit. Then during his speech Obama made several key points about education, jobs and the economy, and also about technology and innovation.
I agreed with his new approach to education as he wanted to get rid of no child left behind and create Race to the Top. I believe that this new program can really help Americans as they will be exposed to new ways of teaching and better standards. Another key point that Obama made was about the economy, in his speech he acknowledges that the economy isn’t doing so well and unemployment rates aren’t getting any better. He sets out a plan to help more Americans get jobs and make our economy better.
The third point is about technology and throughout president Obama’s he talks about clean energy technology and biomedical technology. He states that the engineers of our time could create something great and they could solve the hardest problems about clean energy. He says that we need to get behind this innovation. I agree with Obama. I think all the changes that he is trying to make are some great ideas. I don't find anything bad out of this. The only thing that I might possibly think in a negative way is can we trust him? Do we belive that he can follow up with everything he said and make our country become better? I do believe in Obama and I think he can make this a better nation. I do think he will follow up with what he says. I agree with the State of the Union.

I didn't agree with how he said he was going to make them better because he said he was going to give money to the schools that showed them a plan to increase scores. The schools that need help are the ones that are not making good plans so they should be given money if they use their plan. He also said it has help 40 states. That means there are still some that haven't made new plans.
I agreed with him when he said that we needed to work together. He said we need to work together so we can still be the biggest and strongest country. He said Congress needed to work together so we could get things done. He said he was willing to work together with Republicans and Democrats to be productive.
