1. Do you think African Americans voted for Obama as a symbol that they are just as equal as whites?
2. Do you think African Americans were a heavy influence in the 2008 presidential elections?
3. Do you think the current voting system is good for allowing all races to vote?
1. I personally think that they were voting more for Obama because he is African American. This raises the racism card, but anything really does when you talk about who thinks what and why. In statistics I believe that 90% of African American voters voted for Obama. That fact alone will further raise more questions. This question itself isn't a good one too because it asks to generalize the opinion of a certain ethnicity.
ReplyDelete2. Well obviously, since most of the African Americans voted for Obama, I think it's safe to say that the presidential elections were heavily influenced; possibly by a racist decision. Then again why does race need to matter; the idea of the elections are to have people vote for the candidate that best fits what the believe and what.
3. The voting system is fine as long as everybody has equal influence on the elections. I thought that as of now, everybody has the same voting rights and there for shouldn't be a tip of the scales in an election. For voting to be "good", I think that educating every voter is necessary for a more equal election.
1. I think that African Americans voted for Obama because he was African American, they wanted to make history by having the first black president. This shows how African Americans have power, they can do anything that white people can, they are equal. Putting someone in office that was segregated, and treated completely differently years ago, shows how times have changed and African Americans are now equal to everyone else, making people want to vote for an African American. Other people may have voted for Obama because he shared the same views as them, it was not all about the color of skin, but it may have played a significant role in this particular election. Just the fact that it was something that had never been done before may have been a greater motive for African Americans for vote for Obama.
ReplyDelete2. African Americans did most likely play a huge role in the election of 2008. Although people typically vote for the candidate that simply shares their views on politics, African Americans probably voted for Obama just because he had the opportunity to be the first black president.
3. Yes, the current voting system allows every person to have an equal vote in politics. There is no restrictions on your race, gender, or physical abilities, anyone can vote that is above the age of 18, so it allows for all people to have an equal and fair say.
1. I believe so, yes. Quite honestly I think the majority of African-Americans voted for Obama because him being President of the United States seems to represent African-American people finally becoming equal with whites, therefore having shared opportunities and a hope of ending racism. With our world that is constantly evolving, I think that this could be a step in the right direction... or possibly cause some conflict, depending on how you look at it.
ReplyDelete2. Yes, I do think so. Because one of the Presidential candidates was also African-American, I think it had a greater influence on more people to actually vote. The elections themselves have made history (if I'm not mistaken), showing that there was a definite increase on voting- not necessarily just a raise in African-American voters, but other races as well. Once again, I believe people found this as an opportunity to end racism.
3. Most definitely, I don't believe that people should have rights taken away simply based on skin color... I think that it's important to have people of all races and ages to participate, because America itself is extremely diverse, and every voice should be heard.
@vitaminwater. Do you really think racism will ever end? Where ever there are humans, there is war and conflict. This conflict can be hate, and more specifically can be because one person thinks he/she is more superior due to race. Trying not to prejudge people is a really hard skill because we all do it no matter how hard we try not to.
ReplyDelete1. No, I don't think that african americans voted for him to show that they are equal. Being an african american and being around people who voted for him, i do know that many young voters based their INITIAL decision on who they wanted to win because of the fact that he's black. It wasn't a power thing in most cases for black voters. For those who weren't fully educated on his beliefs it was "cool, we could have a black president". For others who didn't really care and just wanted a democrat it could have been the opposition to having another president like Bush... Honestly, if I would have been old enough to vote i would have HOPED that Obama was the best candidate so that I could be part of huge history making lol.
ReplyDelete2. Yes, of course I think that african americans were a huge part of the reason that president Obama won the election, but we have to keep in mind that just like there are white democrats that are rich or republicans that are poor, black voters are divided too. It's not like every black person went to the polls together and voted for Obama. Counting the other minorities and white people too, i honestly don't even think that black people made the majority of his votes. YOu would be suprised to find out who people vote for when nobody's behind the curtain with them.
3. I think that the current voting system is great for allowing all races to vote. The only things required are registratoin and being over the age of 18.
1. Do you think African Americans voted for Obama as a symbol that they are just as equal as whites?
ReplyDeleteYes, of course. First of all, all African Americans have the same right as whites can vote for president. And the resuld of Obama won the election was also greatly influenced by African Americans. They can influenced the election and make the history as same as whites can do.
2. Do you think African Americans were a heavy influence in the 2008 presidential elections?
Yes, I do believe that. Because African Americans was spirited by Obama entered the election, that was the history moment. African Americans also wanted Obama to be the first African American president to show that they are getting the same rights as the rest of the country do.
3. Do you think the current voting system is good for allowing all races to vote?
The current voting system didn't specify which races can vote and which can not. So it's saying that all the people who's over the age of 18, and is an American citizen have the right to vote.
1. Do you think African Americans voted for Obama as a symbol that they are just as equal as whites?
ReplyDeleteI do believe that the fact that Obama is an African American greatly influenced who African Americans chose to vote for in the 2008 election. However, I do not believe that they voted for Obama to show they are just as equal as whites. I believe they chose him because they either felt a greater kinship to Obama than past presidents, or because they wanted to make history (or both). I believe they wanted to break the line of white presidents and make history with an African American president.
2. Do you think African Americans were a heavy influence in the 2008 presidential elections?
Yes, I do believe that African Americans were a huge influence in the 2008 election. The citizens of the United States are known for taking their voting privileges for granted (after all, look at other countries struggling to establish a democracy), so the fact that the voter turnout was high in 2008 shows that more people came to vote. Since Obama is African American, I believe that more African Americans came to vote in the 2008 election.
3. Do you think the current voting system is good for allowing all races to vote?
I believe that the current voting system is great. The fact that every American citizen above the age of 18 is allowed to vote is fantastic, and ensures equal rights and strengthens democracy in the United States.
1: The majority number of African Americans voted for Obama since he is black. They wanted a black president to show that they are equal to them in this world now. Like how a lot of women were voting foe Hilary Clinton because of her gender. Being from somewhere or gender is going to impact the polls if your the first black guy or first female.
ReplyDelete2: African Americans influenced all the people around the world in 2008 elections. If one race could come out strong and dominate the polls then anyone has the chance to do it. Blacks were contributing through everything they can, by advertising and telling people how important it is to vote.
3: All races should be allowed to vote to this day. whats the whole point of being a citizen and pay taxes if your not able to vote and have say in it. So what if one race comes out dominating the polls, then everybody else should go get involved. You could be any race as long as the person has hit the age 18, then it is fine.
1) i believe that african american voted for obama to show the equallity of race and a black man is equally capable of doing whatever a white man is.
ReplyDelete2)yes i believe african american were a heavy influence on the election and well as other races
3)isn't it suppose to be racial free and bias because the politics it self doesn't have nay color
1) i think that the the majority of african americans voted for president Obama because he is also an african american. i think that african americans voted for Obama because they are lawfully equal to everyone else in this nation. i personally think that everyone in the country is equal to eachother, nothing more nothing less.
ReplyDelete2) Yes. i definitely believe that african americans were heavily influenced in the 2008 election. i think that they felt the need to show their equality to everyone, refering back to the last question. i believe that the 2008 election had a great impact on the african american people.
3)YES! i definitely think that the voting policy for our nation is great, as long as the voter is over 18 and is making a serious decision. otherwise, i have full agreement with allowing anyone legal to vote according to the 15th amendment.
1) i feel that most African American's voted for President Obama because they wanted to see one of them in office for a change and feel completely equal to whites.
ReplyDelete2)I think African Americans were the most influential in the 08' election because of all that they did to recruit voters to support Obama
3)Yes i think the current voting system is perfect in allowing all races to vote
1)I think most African Americans voted for Obama because they were ready for somethinng new and different. "Change" was the message Obama sent out for everyone to hear and many African Americans wanted to know what it would be like. Also I believe that African Americans wanted to let everyone know that we are all equal and that it shouldnt matter what race you are, which is why having an African American leader is so important.
ReplyDelete2)Yes, I do believe that African Americans played a huge role in the presidential elections in 2008. But I also believt that Obama would have still won because other races believed in his messages about change and wanted to know what it would be like to have someone new in office.
3)Yes i believe the current voting system is fine. Why would we single out any race to having the right to vote? It's not constitutional and it wouldn't be right.
1) i think that the fact that obama was african american was only one of the reasons that some african americans voted for him. i feel that his ethnicity did intise him to some but i dont think that is the only reason. other reason for voting for him were that you believed in his ideas or that he was the democratic canidate. even though some african americans may have voted for him because he was african american i do not think all voted for him because of that.
ReplyDelete2) i do think african americans had a role in the 2008 election. they obviously did because they hada bigger turn out than previous years. i dont however think that this turned the tide in obamas favour. i think the unpopularity of the previous president who was republican, obamas massage for change and his message of hope were factors that led to his victory.
3)i think that the current voting system is good about letting all races vote. it does not discriminate against any particular race. at the same time however it does not help any particular race get to the voting place. i feel our voting system though not perfect does a good job of not discriminating against any race
