Discussion Questions.
1. Some people agree with this amendment because AT THE time they like the president who’s serving and want them in office longer but later on when they disagree with the president who’s serving do you think these lawmakers will still agree with this repeal?
2. Do you think the 22nd amendment should or should not be repealed? Explain.
3. In the article, it says that James Sensenbrenner, the conservative Republican chairman of the House Judiciary Committee agrees with this amendment, do you think there is a reason he agrees?
1. I think the attitude toward this amend really comes down to whether or not the current lawmakers like the president or not. If they do, then they would prefer to extend the amount of time available for the president to serve. However, if the lawmakers do not like the president they may want to keep the amendment as is. Also, i do not feel it is a lawmakers job to use their own biases to make decisions. These type of decisions should come from the people.
ReplyDelete2. I do not think the 22nd amendment should be appealed because it limits the amount of power one can obtain in office. If the president was elected 10 consecutive elections it would show a more dictator run country than that of a democracy.
3. I think conservative James Sensenbrenner agrees with the 22nd amendment because typically conservatives like to conserve the old way of doing things. And we probably share some views about how much power one can obtain if they were to be in office for over eight years.
1. The only reason someone would want to channge this amendment is if they like the current president. But if the president changes, the person's mind will too. If the new president gets elected multiple times, the person who thought this amendment should be appealed would change his mind.
ReplyDelete2. In my opinion, the 22nd amendment should not be changed because if it were, the government could become corrupt much more easily. There needs to be a limit on how much power one is able to have.
3. I believe James Sensenbrenner agrees with amendment becuase if someone from the other party (a democrat) would be elected for many terms. The republicans wouldn't have as strong of a voice as the democrats whose ideas are much varied from republicans.
I do not think the 22nd amendment should be appealed becaust it limits the power of the person in charge. This would pretty much mean that that the person who is supposed to be in charge, isn't really in charge.
ReplyDelete1.) lets keep in mind folks, our government is not stupid. people will have though of this, and therefor it will not have even been passed. so no. since it wont actually pass, it wont be an issue.
ReplyDelete2.)im torn about this. 2 years. relatively that is not a very long time, i have always been concerned that 2 years is not enough time to fully implement the president's plans. its not so much that i faver 44 over the 34's president but who knows, given that extra year could they have finally solved that really big issue. every government needs one of those. so, its complicated and i think it will always be that way.
3.)well he's a republican, he's probably out to murder puppies and make LOTS of money. thats my guess. Honestly this article, if it can even be called that, gave little inclination other than that he agreed with the idea of repeal.
