Racial discrimination should not trump voting rights

http://www.race-talk.org/?p=5580

Do you think it’s fair for how the states are treating to the African American?
Should this be within the states hands to making the voting law and to say who can vote and vote can’t?
What amendment(s) does this article discuss being violated? Explain.

  1. 1. No, it is not fair how states are treating African Americans. Everyone in our nation is created equal, and nobody should be treated differently because of their skin color or race. If a crime is committed, they should be punished and treated the same as any other person would be of another race. African Americans should have the same right to vote as anyone else, and should not have it taken away because of a crime that they were treated unfairly in.

    2. No, it should not be up to the states to make voting laws saying who can and can not vote. If people are going to lose the right to vote because of a crime they committed, that should be a nationwide decision. Everyone needs to be treated the same way in the entire United States, not differently between states.

    3. This article discusses the violation of the 15th amendment. People who are losing the right to vote because of a crime they committed (leading to discrimination), then all men regardless of their race, color, and creed, are not receiving the right to vote, as it says they should in the 15th amendment.
