This article about an exit poll represents the scorekeeper function of the media. In the article, percentages in favor of certain candidates for governor were presented as well as the public's opinion on the most pressing issues. Two Republicans had won over the majority for Wisconsin's Senator and Governor. Of the 27% of people who identify themselves as independent, they broke 55 to 43 percent in favor of the Republican candidate, Johnson. Furthermore, people who disapproved with how President Obama's performance in office has been mostly voted for Johnson by an 86 to 13 percent margin. All of these statistics show that the media posts the scores in elections and in approval ratings. 65% of thee people in Wisconsin believe the the economy was the most pressing issue; this is a poll about public policy and is also a scorekeeper function by the media.
