• Myth: The Second Amendment guarantees the individual right to own a gun.

http://www.huppi.com/kangaroo/L-secondamendment.htm

Questions:
- Do you think the Second Amendment only extends to the state militias or to the citizen? Why?
- What should be done to give citizens the right to have guns?
- Should states have the power to regulate guns or even ban them? Why or why not?
- Should citizens have to have a background check before getting a gun? Why or why not?

1 comment:

  1. -I believe the amendments extends to the citizens because in some circumstances a gun MAY be necessary in order to defend oneself

-I think some proof of citizenship and residency should be required before purchasing a gun to ensure the buyer isn't some sort of convict.

-I think the state should have the power to lightly regulate the selling of guns but I do not believe that they should be banned mostly because it interferes with our second amendment rights.

-I do believe some sort of background check is necessary because I believe someone with a history of unstable mental health or someone convicted with a serious crime like armed robbery should be unable to purchase a gun.
